Officer
Officer
This by far is my favorite class to play. Although it's a rather squishy (esspecially against DSJ) I love it and it's extremely fun to play.
This class is intended for group support and AoE attacks. It's niether a great offensive or defensive prof. Officer's are weak in defense. You want to increase your basic defense and health to be able to take more damage. As officer you are going to have to get use to LoS'ing (Line of Sight) if you break line of sight they can't damage you. Use those walls to your advantage on the battle field.
To start I suggest getting a General Set Jewelry Set. It's incredible set to have constantly giving action for you and your team members as well as decreasing the group buffs action and CD timer. This also gives you a reset chance on your heal which *really help's out*. Like I suggested a capped set of Primus Battle Armor. Mod's would be Con, BV, Str (health block suit) As exotics I suggest Pistol Damage, Healing Potency, Block Chance. PuP's (power ups) would be x2 Block Chance x1 Pistol Damage or x1 Healing Potency depending on the situation your in. For food get a cap Breath of Heaven this is the best food in SWG because of it's universal effect on any prof. You can never go wrong with BoH (Breath of Heaven) ;). On the weapon get a capped P8 for the extra range with either heat or acid elemental. Heat for extra damage and Acid for Crits increase for short duration really up to you. I would advise on getting either a Gackle Bat or Mouse Droid. I love stacking Con you can never go wrong with health you know will be there instead of maybe dodging some attacks. Entertainer buff would go as follows 3K kin/eng Armors, Crit, Con, 6% 2nd chance. This will help you heal/tankish...no officer is tank, but with this I was able to tank the Clench Fist of Hate...now that is a incredible feat just me and a medic up and we did it. The general set also lets you flush out all DoT's and Negative buffs very fast making it huge help against commando's, medics, and pretty much any other prof. I would hug the walls, but use up pistol attacks and AoE's as often as possible. Even though you are the General Officer if you are doing it right you will be the one in the group with the lowest amount of action during battles/instances I know I am half the time. Hope this helps. In the expertise pic I have both melee and range specials. I love doing this and actually simpler to use then it looks. Set up a toolbar on your primary with all your pistol specials and everything you need along with your pistol on the toolbar (this help so you can just click to use when you have a melee weapon equipped and makes it easy to switch between). Now make a toolbar slot on the one directly above it with the same order you have in the primary toolbar except this time switch out the pistol specials for melee specials and add your melee weapon to where the pistol would be. Example: I'm in battlefield and I spot a medic I switch to toolbar 2 where my melee is root and apply DoT pop SFP and shoot off all my AoE's, Then I quickly go to toolbar 1 and switch to pistol and continue shooting at a distance with every special as soon it's off CD I can do serious damage this way.

Commando
Commando's are great and powerful classes. It has both great offensive and defensive abilities.
Commando are great at Damge over Tme (DoT) attacks. To me a commando should be full defensive so you can live long enough for your DoT's stack up nice and high causing major damage.
Frontman (PvP and PvE):
The goal here is to stack up a nice amount of defensive ability so that you live longer. The longer you live the more DoT's you can apply on the opponent. The more DoT's you apply on the opponent the more damage you do. Now this build is fairly simple and follows a good concept. Armors; you will need a capped set of Primus Battle Armor 6600 eng/kin 5400 elements. Basic mod's with BV, Str, Con and Exotics with Block Chance, Healing Potency, Heavy Weapon Damage. This goes hand in hand with the Frontman Jewelry set and increases it's effectiveness 110%. PuP's I always like to stack x2 Block Chance and x1 Heavy Weapon Damage or x1 Healing Potency depending on the situation. Food is Fizz pudding for the 3% Block Chance or you can trade out for the Breath of Heaven for a little more survivablilty. It's agruable on both sides which is better between the two so it's up to you. This goes perfect with the Gackle Bat since you want to have the Position Secure line in expertise increasing your Pre and Str overall. All this is pretty effective no matter who your facing. As a tip to all those commando's out there I suggest getting a good capped heavy weapon and a capped flamer with same exotics to switch through. I like to use the flamer to stack those DoT's nice and high early on since a flamer has x3 chance to stack a passive DoT unlike the Heavy Weapon. Once those Dot's are up to a good high amount switch back to your Heavy Weapon for increased direct damage. Entertainer buff I always go with 2K kin/eng Armors, Action Cost Reduction, 4/5 Con, 3/5 Str, 12% 2nd Chance. You can turn into a beast with this setup having even the most experienced players think twice about facing you.

Dark Side Jedi
Dark Side jedi's are the ultimate PvP class. They dominate the battle field. Here is where you will gain great power over your opponents.
I will first recommend gettting done with the Cloak Collection and getting all those holocrons.
3 types Armor/Mods you can use.
1st Elder Robes give high stat rating for 3 stats and good Armor Rating.
2nd Using traditional Armor that has been Modded. Ever since the update came out where jedi can use Armor this has been very popular to those who have not completed the jedi collection or who are not elders.
3rd Collection Cloaks giving stat increase to all stats and very nice Armor Rating as well as either lightning damage increase or lightsaber damage increase.
Dark Side Jedi
Now dark side jedi's are made for pure offensive ability. The opposite of the light side jedi. Although dark side jedi's can be used to be very good tanks and still dish out heavy damage I always perfer to increase the given skill to overpower my opponents. I will of course do two side a well balanced and a pure offensive dark side jedi.
Glass Cannon (PvP):
Now this like most have said is a Glass Cannon very one sided build pure offensive ability at the cost of defense. I personally love this build and if you know how to play it then the defense factor doesn't really make a difference. As for the basic mod's you will need Agi, Luck, Pre. Those should increase there offensive ability while adding a base of defense from the Agility. Exotics should be as follows PvP Critical Chance, Critical Hit Chance Increase, Glancing Blow Range. That should go to shirt, lightsaber, and chest if you use armors. The PuP's (Power Up's) should be x3 PvP Crit Chance. Entertainer buff I always go with 3K kin/eng Armors, Crit Chance, GB, 60 Pre. This should be used with Gackle Bat familiar for the added pre, and str. I always use Breath of Heaven for food and is the best universal food for most professions. I like it on this build for added health. A good Breath of Heaven should be 200+ Constitution. Heroic Jewelry for this build for this build should of course be Dark Fury. That gives you a chance to reset the Cooldown on an attack, but most importantly it gives you the ability to reduce the overall cooldown of all your lightning attacks giving you more damage and more chances to crit.
Balanced Dark Side Jedi (PvP and PvE):
This is actually well balanced and you take off some of the pure offensive abilities and switch them for defensive to balance out the profession. I suggest as basic mod's either 1) BV, Str, Agil 2) Agil, Pre, Luck. Exotics for 1) would be Block Chance, Glance Blow Range, Block Value and 2) would be Glance Blow Range, Agil, Critical Hit Chance Increase. The Aurilian Jewelry for 1) Is the Guardian Set and for 2) Heroism Set. This set it's best to add as much Agil as possible and get food with +150 Agil. If you choose to go with the Block build of 1) then go with Fizz pudding for the 3% Block Chance and added luck. I would choose the Mynock or this build because here your trying to increase the agility value as high as possible. As for the expertise I would use the same one since that one works best for whichever dark side jedi you choose to be.
Light Side Jedi
Will start by putting my knowledge to make a helpful guides for all those who wish to become great Master Jedi's. I do not recommend using light side jedi for PvP because most classes can beat it. the system at the moment is not completely updated so light side jedis are very few, but should be kept to PvE. Now I have done many PvP light side jedis and it's worked great to a certain point, but I chose not to add it unless a viewer request it.

Light Side Jedi
Traditionally lightside jedi are made to be tanks sort to speak with crazy high heals and can take major damage.
Tank Jedi (PVE):
You will need to stack basic agi, str, con stats. For your exotics you should do Glancing Blow, Glancing Blow (range), Glancing Blow (melee). That would be in your shirt, lightsaber, and armor chest if you choose to go with armors. Entertainer Buff you will need something along the lines of Full Kin or Eng depending on what you are doing. then full Glance Blow. Then finish it off with 18% 2nd chance, and 4 in Agi. It should be like this for instance if I'm doing Exar Instance I would get this Kin, GB, 4/5 Agi, 18% 2nd Chance. The Mynock familiar works best with this build. Should be used with the Heroism Set. I suggest for food either Breath of Heaven with 200+ con or any high Agility food. Anything with +150 Agi is good.
What you need to start off.
Well first you need a solid starting point. You need all the basic items.
Food-
You will need crates of capped food which depending on the profession might differ from others.
Armor- (all except trader, and jedi need)
No matter what profession you are nowadays primus capped battle armor is best for any job. I suggest a good 6600 kin/eng 5400 elements. After that you need to mod up the suit with triple 35's per piece. The mods all depend on your build so check out helpful builds I will be posting to better help decide.
Basic Buffs-
Get a familiar! Depending on your build again you need to try getting a familiar for there bonus. Gackle Bats give you 40 pre and 40 str, Mynocks give you 40 agi, Mouse Driods give you 40 con. The musty injector is extremely effective and easy to get. You already have a musty injector, but if you don't make it a priority! It gives a +100 pre +100 str and has duration of 30 min, but you can reapply it every 2-5 mins I forget.
Advanced Buffs-
Then go into more advanced buffs such as Shard of the Serpent for needed elemental protection. You will need this in instances like Exar Kun and in PvP against commandos. (not needed, but would make a huge difference if you had it) The Sith Holocron is useful to have it gives 150 con/stam for 3 min with a 60 min CD (cooldown timer) You should be getting the lair crystal/shard of retaliation. I suggest doing the quest and getting the lair crystal since it's no trade then later buying a shard of retaliation so you can have both. Revitalization Pack which is looted is an awesome buff that gives +200 con/luck/agi for 3 min and CD is 30 min.
Misc Items You Should Get-
I think A Sprint Enhancement Stim is always great help no matter what prof you are. It gives a boost like a jedi's force run for 60 sec and you can use it every 30 min.
Get an Officer-
I say this makes a Huge difference when either PvPing or PvEing. If you have the chance make an officer alt same server and lvl him up to 90 just to drop stim when you need. If you can't do that then make friends with officers that are always on and see if they are willing to drop for you. The Tacts Stims in my opinion are the best buff ingame that you can have pretty much all the time. Then the Med Stims are a a big help especially if your one of those professions that as a low heal. Now even though it doesn't define the player by making or breaking it, but it sure does add a nice advantage over most other players.
Medic Buffs-
For this you should have access to a AFK medic buffer with 1 hr 30 min buffs. Most servers have AFK medic buffers for all to use which is great. You should always tip those medic that do because they are providing a public service that everyone uses. If your server doesn't however then you should join a guild that has a buffhouse near restuss. (provided your not in a guild already)
Entertainer Buff-
Always get an entertainer buff no matter what you do. They are extemely helpful. Now there isn't any universal buff to help with any profession so on this you will need to customize it to maximize your build.

This blog about Star Wars Galaxies
I have played SWG with the best of them for many years now. I have played on all the major servers and decided to start a blog that might help other players gain knowledge from my past experiences. I will be writing updates to my blog daily or weekly so check back constantly. I will put down the profession and what they do. I will make a complete background for what you have and what you need to be the best. Keep reading while I start profession by profession showing you the best way to play.
